VERSUS THE WORLD is a Santa Barbara based rock band that draws from a blend of post-hardcore and pop punk. Having formed in the back of the iconic “Down on Haley” record store, the band features Chris Flippin (Lagwagon), Donald Spence, Mike Davenport (The Ataris), Tony Caraffa and Bryan Charlson.
In 2005, after releasing their first self-titled album on Kung Fu Records, Versus began touring across the US, Canada and Europe with bands such as No Use For A Name, MxPx, Bouncing Souls, The Lawrence Arms, Unwritten Law, The Ataris, The Vandals, I Am The Avalanche and the Vans Warped Tour.
As their fan base continued to grow, they reconvened in 2010 to write and complete ‘Drink.Sing.Live.Love’. The album was released in 2012 on Viking Funeral Records (a label imprint started by Ken Seaton of Hardline Entertainment, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise). To support the release Versus embarked on a full scale European tour including a spot on the main stage at the Groezrock Festival and at the 2013 Soundwave Festival.
Their latest album, ‘Homesick/Roadsick’ is to be released by Kung Fu Records on June 23rd and was recorded at Playback Recording and Orange Whip Studios in Santa Barbara by producer Thom Flowers (Bad Astronaut, The Ataris), mixed by Ian MacGregor (All American Rejects, Katy Perry), and mastered by Jason Livermore (Rise Against, Descendents) at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO.
