THIS SUNDAY JANUARY 25 AT 7:00PM AEDT THE DOCTOR CHATS TO NONE OTHER THAN …..ANTEMASQUE

“That astounding musical force of Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez have been coming to Australia since 2001 with the ground-breaking At The Drive In. I saw them tear the roof off the Metro Theatre with no fancy stage lights, no explosions, just raw inventive rock power. I’ve seen them a bunch since then, as At The Drive in and when they’ve taken my mind into space, as prog-rock legends The Mars Volta.” – The Doctor

Now they’re finally back with a new band, a stripped-back, new but classic sounding power-pop super-group Antemasque. This Sunday you get to hear Cedric Bixler-Zavala tell you all about it. You’ll hear about Omar and Cedric getting back in the studio after parting ways for a bit, Cedric talks about the weird connection to Australian bands like The Saints and even The Go-Betweens and you’ll even hear about the time At The Drive in played a birthday party for one of Omar’s brothers.

Antemasque (Bixler-Zavala, Rodriguez-Lopez, Omar’s brother Marfred and drumming genius Dave Elitch) are here for Soundwave AND some sweet sideshows with Incubus, and their US tour-mates Le Butcherettes, who Omar produced and used to play bass for. Cedric reckons Le Butcherettes are “an amazing live act and amazing songs. They’re inspirational to watch.”

So, in the words of Cedric Bixler-Zavala; “Just bring your ‘I wanna have a good time’ pass and I think everything’s gonna be fun, and we’ll have a good time together.”
