Always more appeal than demand, more liberation than limitation, Turnstile extend their hand in 2018 with Time & Space. Recorded with producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA, Time & Space marks Turnstile’s Roadrunner Records debut and sees the band exploding the most outsized tropes of hardcore with tremendous heart. Turnstile’s brand of youth-minded, youth-driven hardcore punk is intent on breaking down barriers, sonically and ideologically. Continuously looking outward, Time & Space is the result of a band operating without boundaries, always growing, always in super-motion.
Citizen’s latest offering “As You Please” reports from ground zero of an epidemic. Two years removed from their previous Run For Cover LP, Everybody Is Going To Heaven, Citizen’s perspective is far less sublime. As You Please is a confrontational record, incapable of turning a blind eye toward the inescapable strife. And so, songwriter Mat Kerekes pursues the source of discontent that is ravaging his friends, his family, and his Rust Belt city of Toledo, Ohio with the band’s most dynamic record to date. On As You Please the epidemic is bigger than addiction and overdoses. There is no longer a Dream to be pursued for the friends and family surrounding Citizen. The band explores that absence and the misguided ways in which it gets filled.
Turnstile and Citizen have announced Australian tour dates to go along with their upcoming appearance at Victoria’s UNIFY Gathering festival in January, tickets on sale Friday November 9.
