POW NEGRO fostered by COOL PERTH NIGHTS
Fresh off the back of support for the brilliant Sampa The Great, Remi and Koi Child, POW Negro are rocking stages across Fremantle and Western Australia with their dynamic live show. Exploring areas of hip-hop, jazz, psychedelic, grunge and soul music their groovy, sexy, sexy performance is sure to get bodies moving. November will see the release of Pow’s highly anticipated second single following the introductory ‘Racketball’ earlier this year. Merging Jazz elements in their fusion hip hop with an aggressive vocal style that falls somewhere between the energetic bounces of Zac de la Rocha and the funk come street verses of Mos Def, the six piece hit the stage hard and snatch punters in with their explosive energy and memorable live performance.
BELLS RAPIDS fostered by ISOLATED NATION
Bells Rapids started with one and ended with four very unique and frustrated young women performing songs within the pop/grunge arena fuelled by distortion, reverb and melodic, gut-wrenching cry outs to a world they don’t fully understand.
PHOCAL fostered by PILERATS
Phocal is an electronic duo from Perth (JCAL X Pho) experimenting with sounds that are influenced by genres such as Neo Soul, electronica, hip hop Jazz, funk and house (dance music). Phocal perform as a live electronic set with pho (Phoebe Gunson) doing live vocals and JCAL (Jack Calneggia) playing live electronic instruments such as drum pads and keyboards.
DREAM RIMMY fostered by THE MUSIC
Since forming in 2014, the short existence of Perth shoegazers Dream Rimmy has been eventful. Supports for The Preatures and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, ’90’s indie favourites Ash and shoegaze heroes Swervedriver, plus a slot on the State Of The Art Festival (alongside You Am I, Birds Of Tokyo and The Scientists) have been accompanied by a nomination for a West Australian Music Award for “Most Popular New Act”.

In February this year Dream Rimmy released the single ‘Waves’ with follow-up single ‘Landslide’ launched in October. The band are currently putting the finishing touches on there second EP to be released in May 2017.

GOLD SUNS fostered by THE WEST AUSTRALIAN
Fremantle act Gold Suns are set to release their debut EP on Friday 21 October at The Odd Fellow, Fremantle. ‘Shades’ features 5 tracks that carve a path through rock and pop territory. From the swirling and soaring surf guitar sounds of ‘Blackout’ through to the ethereal moments and echoes in ‘Sweet Lies’, Gold Suns bring big hooks and a range of moods. The EP was recorded by acclaimed engineer Andy Lawson at Debaser Studio earlier this year. The launch of ‘Shades’ marks a year since Gold Suns’ first gig. Over the twelve months the band has played over 15 shows, including the 2015 WAM Festival and a tour of the South West.

THE HUNTING BIRDS fostered by MUSIC INSIGHT
The Hunting Birds are a young and captivating five piece folk/rock/pop outfit from Fremantle, Western Australia. Led by versatile singer/songwriter duo Connor Minervini and Kenda Fewster, the group has the subtle folk qualities of yesteryear with a strong grasp of modern popular day music. Their sound stretches from pop, to classic folk, all the way to rock. They will support British India at their Perth show in November 2016 and are set to make their television debut on Channel 7’s telethon. Their new single ‘State of Mind’ is mature yet youthful, highlighting their folk-rock influences and the energy that defines their live shows.
