|WHAT’S ON OFFER
In case you missed it, here’s a quick A-Z of what you can expect at the Festival. BETTER READ THAN DEAD WRITER’S TENT
Better Read Than Dead is a literary landmark that has thrived in the heart of Newtown’s King Street for over two decades, nourishing the neighbourhood with a specially curated collection of books and regular author and community events. This team of dedicated book lovers have kindly donated their time and expertise to deliver you a program that brings together some of Australia’s leading writers that will delight adults and children alike!
COMMUNE is Newtown’s co-working space fostering community, creativity, and collaboration and they’re bringing a slice of their programming to Newtown Festival offering a place to chill out and connect with others. There will be delicious vegan food stalls and kombucha on tap, as well as free yoga, dance and creative workshops running all day.
Curated by Sydney Sustainability Centre, the Eco Village will offer a full program of discussions and workshops; from learning what small steps you can take in your day-to-day life to progress your journey towards a more sustainable home, to increasing your understanding of current, global environmental issues.
You can do your part on the day to assist us in diverting as much waste as possible from landfill by placing your compostable plates, cutlery and any leftover food into one of the food waste bins located around the Festival site, or take them over to the friendly Eco Village team where they will happily take them and answer any of your composting or worm farming questions!
FOOD AND MARKET STALLS
There will be a plethora of stalls scattered throughout the Festival site, with local businesses, designers and creators selling food and beverages from around the world, general merchandise, fair trade goods and handmade arts and crafts. There’s sure to be something for everyone!
