Australian punk rock mini-festival GINGERFEST returns in 2018.

And it’s back in a big way.

The Remembering the Ginger Ninja team is stoked to be working with the Yours & Owls group to bring you this year’s event, back in Canberra. GINGERFEST 2018 will be hosted by MOLO LIVE @ The Australian National University on Saturday December 15, 2018 and we are also delighted to have central coast’s SIX STRING BREWING CO. serving up delicious schooners of craft beer throughout the event.

Australian skate punk legends BODYJAR will headline this year’s event. After a bit of a hiatus, “The JAR” will be heading to the Nations Capital for the first time in 13 long years! Back with a vengeance and with the recent release of their latest EP ‘Terra Firma’, “The Jar” are match fit and ready to rock your socks off.

This year’s event is also the first to feature international acts on the lineup, with acclaimed musician/composer/producer/genius JEFF ROSENSTOCK stopping by with his 5 piece band. Stowed away in Jeff’s luggage, and making his 2nd trip to Australia this year, the always entertaining DAN POTTHAST will be touring with JEFF playing keyboard/guitar and has also promised to also give us a classic acoustic Dan P set.

Adelaide’s hard touring party punks (and Gingerfest alumni) HIGHTIME return for this year’s event, as do Sydney’s rock n’ roll blended ska band BAGSTER, who have come out of hibernation for the event. EBOLAGOLDFISH & NERDLINGER will also be making the trek from Sydney, with Nerdlinger fresh from their first tour of the USA and performances at punk rock super-festival THE FEST in Gainesville Florida. GINGERFEST 2018 will also see the one-time reformation of Canberra’s EPIC FLAGON. Anyone who was going to shows last decade will remember these guys fondly. Also representing Canberra will be SKETCH METHOD – one of the hardest working, dedicated and entertaining punk bands we’ve seen in recent years. LINCOLN LE FEVRE & THE INSIDERS and HANNY J will be doing the rounds with JEFF ROSENSTOCK and we are stoked to also have them join the fest. In between bands – there’s plenty happening in the beer garden, with performances from DONNY MCFADDEN (Lamexcuse), VETTY VIALS, AZIM ZAIN and BEN THE RED all promising to bring pleasing sounds to your ears.

As well as being a celebration of inclusive punk rock culture, GINGERFEST is a boutique music event that was born to celebrate the life of Nicky Sofer-Schreiber (aka ‘The Ginger Ninja’), who was tragically murdered in his own home in Canberra in late 2013. One of punk rock’s most dedicated fans, The Ginger Ninja was much loved throughout the punk scene in Australia and abroad. Turning 32 on December 16 this year, everyone at ANU will be sure to raise a glass once the clock hits midnight.

With no other music festival in the ACT quite like it, this December GINGERFEST 2018 is where you want to be to truly welcome in the silly season.

Tickets are $45 (plus booking fee) through Moshtix.com.au, with proceeds going towards The Annual Ginger Ninja Punk Rock Music Festival, a not for profit company established in 2014 in memory of Nicholas Sofer Schreiber (1986-2013).

Remember the Ginger Ninja.
