After releasing their critically praised single ‘Had Our Heaven’, Sunshine Coast’s indie-pop stalwarts Selahphonic are excited to reveal their brand-new EP ‘Therapy’ – recorded at Cooper Lane Studio, Sydney by Chris Collins (Gang of Youths, Tigertown, Middle Kids).

‘Therapy’ features four stunning anthemic cuts, which take cues from the likes of modern day stadium indie-pop groups The Wombats, Foster The People and Bleachers, whilst also paying homage to an earlier era with its throwback electro influences likened to Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and New Order.

Front man and main songwriter, Jamie Coyle describes the creative and recording process behind ‘Therapy’ –

“This EP was written with the intent of providing a very personal insight into my life – I wanted the listener to feel they’ve just picked up my personal diary, baring my soul for all to see. It includes themes of loss, disappointment and highlights that time doesn’t always heal wounds. The whole creative process ended up being a catharsis; hence the title ‘Therapy’.”

Since its release, ‘Had Our Heaven’ has seen support from the likes of triple j Unearthed, community radio, worldwide tastemaker blogs, MTV and ABC’s Rage. The track glimmers with synth-laden hooks, infectious lead-guitar licks and is backed by a simple, yet sturdy and bouncing rhythm section; all combining to complement the catchy sing-a-long melodies of endearing front man, Coyle.

To coincide with the new record, the band has also announced five headline shows in April / May across the East Coast and an inclusion on the Sea N’ Sound Festival, which is due to be held in Mooloolaba, QLD on Saturday June 10 and features Boy & Bear, Busby Marou, Tijuana Cartel and Timberwolf.
