With their punchy, irresistible brand of rock and pop-punk, Melbourne outfit One More Weekendjust returned with their addictive indie-rock track ‘Colourful Things’. They are now pairing that with a fitting and comical music video depicting that one person at a party who just doesn’t know their own limits.

There’s always that one person at a party who gets too far gone and becomes completely un-self-aware. Aligning with the underlying theme of the track that explores the effects that substance abuse has on the user and those around them, the music video follows a character who simply just doesn’t know when to call it a night.

Like a groundhog day storyline, the protagonist continues to be seen finding consciousness out the front of a house. Each time he wakes he is that much more intoxicated, but despite being locked out, finds a way back into the party.

Unable to read the room, this protagonist is agonisingly unaware of their own behaviour: making friends uncomfortable, making a mess of themselves and finally crashing the stage where the band are performing. This behaviour gets old quick and there is no doubting how harmful substance abuse can be to the user and to those around them.

Despite the bright and upbeat feeling of the track and comical elements of this clip, there is a very important takeaway. One More Weekend want to share that it’s so important to keep an eye out for your mates for any signs of substance abuse.
