Majora are makers of beautifully heavy music – instrumental pieces crafted with care and intricacy that take the listener on deep journeys of introspect and bliss. Today they are returning to the fore of the Australian music scene with new single ‘Aphotic’, the first taste of a new EP of the same name, due for release Friday September 15 through Bird’s Robe Records.
This, their sophomore EP, ‘Aphotic’ will be released September 15 through Birds Robe Records, a signing made very recently. Mike Solo, head of Bird’s Robe said “I am very excited to have Majora on the label – it can’t be said enough that they are part of an exciting new breed of instrumental and progressive music coming out of Australia – and this is a great first project to work on together.”
Working with highly acclaimed engineers Dax Liniere and Forrester Savell on the mixing and production of the EP, Majora have sought to deliver a superior release.
The pensive, visually stunning filmclip for the title track ‘Aphotic’ was filmed and directed by Tim Grove. Watch it below.
Majora shared their insight about the new record – “Aphotic is our first conceptual and thematic release, with each song relating back to the core concept and written as a continual listening experience from start to finish. This EP is written with a wider variety of influences ranging from ambient music, hip hop and electronica, while pushing ourselves further on a technical level. We feel this is our best effort to date in songwriting, production and musicianship, and we are very excited to finally release the Aphotic EP and tour a more dynamic and diverse live set.”
