‘Blood In The Cut’, the moody and magnetic lead single from K.Flay’s four-track Crush Me EP released in 2016, became a triple j staple and garnered the artist a legion of fans around the country, making an appearance just outside of the top 100 on triple j’s Hottest 101-200 countdown last month.
The brand new single ‘Black Wave’ premiered on triple j’s Good Nights last week, with the sophomore album, Every Where Is Some Where, due for release on April 7. ‘Black Wave’ is “about facing something immense and menacing and choosing not to cower, but to rise up,” K.Flay says in a statement that also sheds light on the album’s title.
On stage, K.Flay injects vocal spitfire into rhythmic rock beats, delivering cool flawless hip-hop with slight abrasion. “My live shows always had the spontaneity that comes from working with more organic instrumentation…”, she says.
