In a huge coup for Tasmania, overnight negotiations with Sir Elton John’s representatives have confirmed that the global music icon will play a second show at Hobart’s Derwent Entertainment Centre, to take place on Thursday 28th September.

Tickets for Elton’s first Once In A Lifetime Hobart concert were snapped up within minutes of going on sale yesterday, while mainland Australia didn’t disappoint either — the entire Australian-exclusive series was announced sold out by lunchtime on the first day of on sale, with more than 50,000 tickets sold across the Hobart, Mackay, Cairns and Wollongong shows.

Michael Chugg, promoter and Tasmanian-native, said “I trusted in Tassie, I knew they’d bring it home. The turnout for tickets on Elton’s first show was fantastic, and I’m trusting it will be just as strong for this second one. But it’s really Elton we have to thank for agreeing to go again.

“Pretty much every seat at the Derwent Entertainment Centre is a Platinum ticket by comparison to any of the other venues Elton is playing in September.”

By far the most intimate of the now five-concert series, Derwent Entertainment Centre will offer fans an ‘up close and personal’ music experience with one of the world’s most beloved and prolific performers. It will be the first time in over 25 years that Elton has played on the Isle.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am AEDT on Monday 20th March.
Fans are advised to stay tuned for the release of production hold tickets for all shows in the coming days.
