Today marks the return of DZ Deathrays with their first new single in almost 12 months.  ‘Shred For Summer’.

“For a long time I’ve wanted to write a song that is just about my love of playing guitar, this is the closest thing we have made to that” Parsons’ explains. ‘Shred For Summer’ starts with an almost psychedelic atmosphere, before Shane Parsons’ familiar scowling vocal smacks you right in the guts, reminding listeners of exactly what they came here for.

Premiering overnight on Linda Marigliano’s Good Nights on triple j with the band revealing the video on their Facebook directly following the premiere, ‘Shred For Summer’ sees DZ putting their signature thrash-party attitude to work. Parsons’ vocals and shred-heavy guitar work are kicked along by a blown out bellowing drum kit courtesy of Simon Ridley, who makes up the second half of the Bundaberg hailing duo.

‘Shred For Summer’ follows DZ’s most recent standalone singles ‘Pollyanna’ and ‘Blood On My Leather’, their sophomore album from 2014 Black Rat features fan favourites‘Gina Works At Hearts’ and ‘Reflective Skull’ and their debut album Bloodlinesfeaturing ‘No Sleep’ and ‘Dollar Chills’

‘Shred For Summer’ is a true return to form for the thrash-party duo and we couldn’t be more psyched to welcome them back to the fold. Get the speakers in the back yard, throws some tinnies in the esky, and let the party vibes of ‘Shred For Summer’ take a hold!
