Head hoodoo Dave Faulkner, in the midst of promoting new recordings by the Victims, the punk pioneers that he and drummer James Baker formed in Perth in 1977, has been invited to present a testimonial to the late great Joey Ramone at the annual JOEY RAMONE BIRTHDAY BASH, which streams live from NYC this Wednesday morning (May 20) at 10:00AM AEST.

Faulkner, obviously a major Ramones fan, was invited by Mickey Leigh, Joey’s younger brother, who has been organising these annual shindigs every year since Joey’s passing in 2001. Joey passed on April 15, one month before his 50th birthday, so Mickey and his friends decided to throw a birthday celebration and it’s become a huge annual event. Not even COVID-19 can stop it. Proceeds from this event go towards the Joey Ramone Foundation for Lymphoma Research

Dave Faulkner appears on the bill alongside surviving Ramones, CJ and Richie, Sex Pistol Glen Matlock together with long-time Bowie guitarist Earl Slick. Andy Shernoff from the Dictators, Clem Burke from Blondie, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz from Talking Heads, Bun E Carlos from Cheap Trick and numerous others. Dave’s fellow Aussies the Dune Rats are also appearing.
