After an incredible past year driven by three national tours, a triple j Hottest 200 appearance, and their best record yet, Brisbane trio Bugs have today made their triple j Like A Version debut.
For their cover, the much-loved trio opted to rock out to ‘Charlie’ by Brissy’s own pop princess Mallrat, which came in at #3 in this year’s triple j Hottest 100. A track inspired by Mallrat’s own dog, Bugs had the pleasure of meeting said good boy Charlie recently. Frontman Connor Brooker reflects:
“Grace’s dad Luke had us over a few weeks ago to meet the superstar man himself. We’re actually not sure if the song or the dog is cuter! I’ve been pulling Charlie’s hair off the pants I wore for weeks and I’m not even mad about it.”
Having taken their best mates Sweater Curse and TOWNS on tour with them late last year, Bugs kept the wholesome friendship train chugging along today, bringing friends Lindsay O’Connell and Joab Eastley from Newcastle outfit RAAVE TAPES to lend their powerful vocals and sweet dance moves. Watch the performances below, and keep an eye out for new music from Bugs in the coming months:
