The beginnings of any band will start with a teething period that can last a few releases, but after the success of their latest single “Nail Biter” (which has clocked up almost 50,000 views on YouTube & pushed past 25,000 streams on Spotify), and now with the release of #104, it’s safe to say Alpha Wolf’s teething period has come to an end.

The Melbourne 5 piece has worked tirelessly to create something inherently familiar, yet at the same time unashamedly different. Taking the heavy riffs of their downbeat and deathcore contemporaries, mixing that with the groove of the current wave of nu-metal bands, and adding a melody that is completely their own; Alpha Wolf are carving out their own place in the Australian heavy scene. With the rest of the year already planned out for the band, the premiere of #104 on by Lochlan Watt on triple j is just a taste of things to come.

#104 is about the loss of a loved family figure, the desperation that comes with it and also how it affects reconnecting with the real world when all feels very black and white. Death bites hard, this song was written to bite harder.” Vocalist Aidan Ellaz explains.
