Celebrated piano-pop virtuoso BEN FOLDS expands his national PAPER AEROPLANE REQUEST TOUR this February, announcing the addition of a second show at Hobart’s Theatre Royal on Wednesday 14th February, after the first Hobart show sold out in a matter of days.
It’s not only Hobart fans who have come out in force for Folds’ Paper Aeroplane Request tour; A second Sydney Opera House show was announced by overwhelming demand, almost immediately after the first went on sale. Now, within a week of tickets going on sale, The Tivoli in Brisbane is completely sold out, as is the only show on the West Coast, an early announcement from the Perth International Arts Festival. There are a handful of tickets remaining for the show at the Canberra Theatre Centre.
Folds’ blend of distinctive vocals, deft musicianship, witty lyricism and high-octane onstage energy will be showcased in their purest and most spontaneous form in these solo performances. For the first half of the show, Folds will curate a playlist armed with a songbook spanning his entire career. In the second half, Folds will hand over the reins to his fans for a Paper Aeroplane Request set, during which audience members will be encouraged to write their song requests onto a piece of paper, to be folded into a paper plane and launched onto the stage on cue. Folds will then randomly select and perform the songs requested.
Melbourne music lovers stay tuned, a show will be announced soon!
