In an unlikely collaboration, NORTHLANE has remade FATBOY SLIM’s 2013 smash-hit ‘EAT, SLEEP, RAVE, REPEAT’ for the upcoming EP ‘FATBOY SLIM VS AUSTRALIA’. Paying homage to the classic dance track, the Sydney heavy rock outfit has kept the structure of the tune intact whilst beefing up the rock element, bouncing from electro to heavy and hard-core in the chorus, in direct contrast with the lyrics.
Northlane admit “Reinterpreting this song and adding a little bit of the Northlane sound into it was a challenge for us and we hope that we’ve done it justice. We believe that the metal and electronic genres share many similarities and we’re thrilled we got the opportunity to contribute to this release!”
While hard rock and electronica aren’t an obvious mix, Northlane says “Fatboy Slim is an iconic name in electronic music and for many of us, our first introduction to techno. This, in turn, has lead us down a rabbit hole of new genres and inspired us to take risks with our music.”
