The next big edition of the Sydney Rock ‘n’ Roll & Alternative Market will be held on Sunday 17 May featuring a massive Ska vs. Rockabilly line-up. Part market, part music festival, part meeting place it provides an exceptional and unique shopping experience and a fabulous day out for everyone.
Over three floors and across two giant courtyards you will find: Fashion galore, rock ‘n’ roll, alternative, vintage, handmade and unique clothing for men, women and children, jewelry, accessories, posters, artwork, tikis, homewares, collectables, retro hair and make-up stylists, vinyl LPs cult DVDs and more.
When you are not shopping up a storm you can dance to your heart’s content in Manning Bar or kick back with the coolest retro tunes in the laid-back Tiki Bar and international food court, take dancing lessons, or admire the classic and vintage vehicle display. There’s also a café, bars, and giant outdoor games the kids will love.

The Rocksteady Ratpack: Few ensembles in the history of the Australian pub scene music have individually or collectively had a larger impact on the sub-culture scene than the members of The Rocksteady Ratpack. As individuals, the band members’ imprint can be heard on an astonishing number of recordings that together amass an impressive and important historical portfolio of Australian Ska. Featuring members of The Allniters, Club Ska, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, The Porkers, Backy Skank and The OzSkas.
The Detonators: Australia’s high priests of Roots Rock ‘n’ Roll are back at the market for the first time in 2 years. Their lethal combination of rockabilly, blues and early rock ‘n’ roll is simply not to be missed.
The Detonators have toured to all corners of Australia, played all major blues and roots festivals more than once and have ventured into Europe with their high powered original show.
Backy Skank: This red-hot nine-piece act are the masters of blues, ska and reggae. The band behind many successful Ska vs. Rockabilly events returns to whip you into a state of Skankin’ enthusiasm.
The Cruisin’ Deuces: Born out of a love of traditional Honky-tonk, Western Swing and Rockabilly music. The Cruisin’ Deuces blend southern twang with crying steel guitars and driving bass, bringing the sounds of Texas, Memphis and Nashville to Sydney for a hootenanny you’ll never forget.
Plus DJ’s: Limpin’ Jimmy and the Swingin Kitten, Wally Wally, The Crimplenes and Andy Travers and MC – Limpin’ Jimmy
Plus Rockabilly Dancing Lessons: If you’ve always wanted to give Rockabilly dancing a try, there’ll be a class for beginners held at the market between 10.45am and 11.45am. Taught by two of Australia’s leading rock ‘n’ roll dance instructors, Bruce Elder and Margie ‘The Swingin’ Kitten’, it’s just $10 per class, which includes entry to the market. No need to bring a dance partner – just plenty of energy and your best dancing shoes!
