Sydney-based pop-punk quintet SoSo has just unveiled their nonsensical accompanying video for their latest single ‘Yeah Nah’ – filmed and directed by Mega Media TV and edited by Pete O’Dowd.
Shot at Victoria Park, The Lansdowne Hotel, and Sydney Props Studios, the video’s plot follows the band, who is wanted for being “offensively average”, going incognito with ludicrous disguises. The band’s frontman, Rhys de Burgh, is confronted by a NSW policeman, portrayed by an Australian comedian and online personality Frenchy, who pursues the band throughout the video. Featuring quick cut transitions, retro stylising and hilarious acting, the dispute is eventually settled with an audacious dance-off scene in a neon-lit secret room.
Rhys de Burgh talks about the process behind ‘Yeah Nah’:
“‘Yeah Nah’ is a pretty ridiculous song, so the music video needed to match it. It had to be a whole lotta big, dumb fun. And somewhere along the line, we thought, ‘Frenchy would look outrageously perfect as a police officer’. So, we pulled some strings, somehow convinced Frenchy to be involved and wrote a storyline that had Officer Frenchy chasing a stupidly dressed SoSo around Sydney for a day. The looks we got while filming at 8 am from the Sydney Uni students were worth it alone.”
SoSo has just come off the back of a sold-out run of East-Coast headline shows in Central Coast, Sydney, and Dapto. In the live arena, the band have previously supported Sydney contemporaries These New South Wales, FANGZ, RedHook and Down For Tomorrow.
