n the midst of a resurgence of early 2000’s alternative acts, it would be easy for the heavyweights of the scene to rest on their laurels, but with Senses Fail‘s 2018 release ‘If There Is Light It Will Find You’, the New Jersey five piece have not only refused to stick to nostalgia, but continue to push forward and prove that they are still one of the best bands going around. From the moment the band announced their 7th studio album, Australian fans have been chomping at the bit for the post-hardcore powerhouse to return to our shores; July of 2019 will see the patience of those fans paid off as the band proudly announces their upcoming run of Australian shows. Senses Fail are set to return for the first time in over five years, for an entire Australian tour (including you Perth & Adelaide). Tickets will be on sale this Friday, the 12th of April from 10am HERE. |
While ‘If There Is Light…’ received rave reviews across the board, and thousands of words have been written on the album, no one sums things up better than Senses Fail vocalist James “Buddy” Nielson. “I don’t think people are going to listen to music right now that isn’t serious. They’re taking a look at the shit around them and saying, ‘No, no, no. We need to have a real conversation.’ Now, whether that’s dealing with personal sadness, or it’s something political, it still takes things earnestly. It’s all a relative angst. Some of the songs may not be ‘political’, but they are topical. There’s a song about a mass shooting because it happens all the time now. How are you supposed to process that? The track, ‘Gold Jacket, Green Jacket’ is like a State of the Union Address for Millenials who are being told they are failing and not doing enough. But we inherited this world from you guys [Baby Boomers], fuck you. I went to college; I tried to get the job. It’s different now. I can’t progress like you could. It’s a different world than the ones our parents inherited. And maybe it’s time to burn down this world that was made.” |
