After premiering via triple j Unearthed last night, Melbourne outfit Self Talk have officially lifted the lid on their new single ‘Don’t Ask‘ today.

It comes after the five-piece announced their limited edition 7″ through Domestic La La in June. The strictly limited physical release (featuring the just-released nostalgia-soaked bop ‘Food Court’ on side A) is available now.

On ‘Don’t Ask’, Self Talk vocalistStacey Cicivelli says:

“‘Don’t Ask’ originally started as a little add-on to our song ‘Clean Washing’. I started playing the first verse as an intro to that song at shows. We eventually worked it into a full song and it became a kind of part 2 to Clean Washing, a bit of a resolution.

“It’s about realising that some of the stuff you’re fed growing up about being a successful woman is nonsense, about seeing yourself clearly and making your own rules.”
