‘Good Boy’ is a testament to the talent of the Dublin-born, London-based singer/songwriter (real name Maurice O’Connor), showcasing the diversity in his sound and the wide range of influences he wears proudly on his sleeve, including The Beatles, T-Rex and Bob Dylan, mixed with the hip-hop and rap sensibilities of artists like Jay-Z and Tyler the Creator.
The song also stands as the title track to his forthcoming debut EP, which will be released in Australia on July 8. Recorded by Hugh Fothergill at The Dairy Studios in Brixton, the record is a spectacle of his eclectic music style that moves through prisms of pop, rap and acoustic romantic prowess to sew a tapestry of sounds that pull together to become uniquely Sample Answer’s.
The last two years have seen Sample Answer’s music reach a huge audience, thanks to his tireless work on the live circuit that has seen him go from couch surfing across London and doing open mic night performances two-to-three times a night nearly every day for a year – through to developing the chops that would lead him to go on and support cult artists such as Pete Doherty and Paddy Casey.
