Ready Player One is an unexpected favourite of the year of ours. Going into the film we hadn’t read the book so didn’t have any expectations. Directing the film was Steven Spielberg who did a brilliant job bringing the vision to life. The movie is set in the year 2045 where the worlds population spends the majority of the time in a virtual reality universe. Inside this world called Oasis sees characters on a quest to find hidden digital Easter eggs.

 

The movie has a great balance between scenes set in the real world with live actors and absolutely visually stunning footage inside the Oasis universe. The entire main cast shine throughout with lead actor Tye Sheridan a perfect choice for the role of Parzival. The story itself will have you from the beginning and the nods to 80’s pop culture throughout are a great addition.   

 

Although 3D may not have the popularity it once did seeing Ready player One in 3D is an absolute must to fully immerse yourself inside the Oasis. The Blu-ray is packed with plenty of bonus features including a huge ninety minutes of special features.

To sum it up Ready Player One is an absolute must see for fans of Sc-Fi, 80’s nostalgia, Spielberg and great action adventure films.
