This year has been anything but quiet for Australia’s favourite bedroom-prog-wizard, PLINI. Starting with sold-out headline shows in SYDNEY and MELBOURNE and a massive debut tour around North America with INTERVALS, he can currently be found journeying across Europe with ANIMALS AS LEADERS on a six-week summer festival & club tour. This September, it will finally be Australia’s turn again, as PLINI heads out on his biggest tour yet, including his first ever headlining show in PERTH. Also joining the tour and performing in Australia for the very first time are Canadian prog-metallers INTERVALS!
Bringing to life material from his forthcoming debut album “HANDMADE CITIES” (out August 26) and more, audiences will be taken on a musical journey of surprise & delight that will stir happiness in the heart of any fan of guitar-playing, prog, metal, fusion or post-rock. PLINI will treat crowds to an evening of progressive music performed with some of Australia’s finest young musicians — including drum-sensation TROY WRIGHT and Jake Howsam Lowe and Simon Grove of Sydney shredders THE HELIX NEBULA.
INTERVALS is a window into the mind of guitarist & composer, AARON MARSHALL. Founded in 2011, INTERVALS is a progressive and forward thinking staple in modern instrumental music with roots firmly planted in all things traditional and an open eye on the future. 2015’s “The Shape of Colour” is the natural evolution of Aaron’s sound and a testament to his knack for infectious melody and engaging compositions. Fine-tuned on countless stages across North America and Europe, the current incarnation of the INTERVALS live band is a well-oiled machine not to be missed, with Aaron Marshall to be joined on stage by PLINI, Canada’s Nathan Bulla (AURAS) on drums and Simon Grove on bass.
AARON MARSHALL: “I’m beyond excited to finally visit and perform in Australia. PLINI and I had the best time touring North America together this year and it’s going to be really fun to bring that back home for him. Europe is up next and then I’ll see you guys in September. Can’t wait!”
Joining for all East Coast dates, Sydney’s POLARIS have made 2016 their own. The rising quintet independently released their sophomore EP “The Guilt & The Grief” to widespread acclaim, and a strong year of touring has rapidly earned them a reputation as one of the country’s most intense live acts. The elastic vocals and intense riffs of DYSSIDIA will greet audiences in Adelaide, and the soothing explorations of ABSENT HEARTS will kick off the tour’s final night in Perth.
Before each show, you can attend a one-hour long Masterclass and Q&A session with PLINI & Aaron (INTERVALS), tailored to the interests of the group and covering anything from composition & guitar techniques to touring & building a career as an independent musician.
