We really tried to push ourselves in every facet – lyrically, texturally, formally, sometimes even pushing each other into the abyss, with interesting results,” reflects guitarist Axel Carrington “Working with Dave (Parkin) again was an absolute no-brainer, as he is a wizard who completely understood what we were trying to achieve, gently pushing the boat out further. We wanted to work with Sarah (Register) after her spellbinding meld with Protomartyr blew us away and figured we had found a kindred spirit – this proved to be the case.” “This record really reflects our core values, what we hold dear, a grabbag of missives, forlorn birdsongs and rubbery memory – but it’s also hopeful, defiant and hopefully worthwhile.
