After taking out a recent round of triple j unearthed, Mid Ayr won themselves the chance to team up with one of NIDA’s best film students to produce a professional film clip.

Director Madeleine Humphreys and Production Designer Charlotte Mungomery constructed a dystopian-styled set over a week long period ahead of the shoot. During the shoot the pair and their crew re-dressed two rooms repeatedly to create a warren of tumbledown living spaces to set their poignant tale. Shot entirely from above using a rare tracking ariel technique from beginning to end, the clip follows a lonely protagonist as he struggles with the disintegration that surrounds him.

The band is thrilled with the results.

“I knew they were a dedicated, talented team but the clip really exceeded my expectations,” says Mid Ayr front man Hugh Middleton. “When they sent us the final cut I was completely taken back by it. It’s incredible to watch something so simple as a concept for a song evolve into something so powerful.”

The clip comes as the band readies themselves to take to the road in support of Melbourne’s Olympia on her Different Cities tour. In between shows with Olympia, Mid Ayr will also make appearances at Brisbane’s End of the Line festival and the wonderful Jungle Love festival in regional south east Queensland.
