Jackass TV show and movies have gained a cult following worldwide for their hilarious stunts and over the top antics. Four of the stars of Jackass Chris Pontius, Dave England, Preston Lacy and Wee-Man are currently touring Australia as part of the Jackass Filthy Seppo Tour. We caught up with Chris Pontius and Preston Lacy while they are in Australia.

Is it good for you guys to escape America at the moment because of all of the politics going on?

Chris Pontius
Well summer’s ending in America and starting in Australia so it seemed like it was the place to go. Australia is fun man.

SCENEzine
Do you think it would spice up the presidential debate if party boy got on stage?

Chris Pontius
Man it’s like wrestling for old people (laughs). I feel like I’m watching WWE. I saw an add for the election coverage while I was here last night and it was just like a wrestling add. That’s all it is really just professional wrestling

Preston Lacy
I’m gunna vote twice.

Chris Pontius
I’m voting for Wee-Man. We are all campaigning for Wee-Man. We are throwing a monkey wrench in this election. We need to give the people who they really need and who they really want. There’s only one man that really knows how to run the country and that’s Jason Wee-Man Acuña from California.

Preston Lacy
Yeah the little dictator. Wee-Man’s like a small boat that has a real big motor on it.

Chris Pontius
A boat like that runs wild. The ladies know that.

SCENEzine
You guy’s kind of have the coolest job in the world. If you went back to your teenage selves would they believe you if you said you get to do this for a living?

Chris Pontius
No, they said you had to go to college. They didn’t have the imaginations that we have. We could of found each other over time. Some of us got together from a skateboard magazine which kind of attracted all of the eccentric people in the skate world. I knew Jason for about eight years before Jackass even started. We’ve been doing this for a long time and finally we ended up being able to do it for a job.

Do either of you have any permanent injuries from Jackass?

Chris Pontius
I have a broken heart.

Preston Lacy
I’ve got high cholesterol but I don’t think that’s from Jackass.

SCENEzine
Could either of you do each others stunts?

Chris Pontius
I think Preston Lacy could beat up any man alive period.

Preston Lacy
Chris could do everything I’ve ever done I just don’t think he would want to. My shit gets weird.

SCENEzine
Were there any stunts that MTV wouldn’t agree to you guys doing?

Chris Pontius
Oh yeah they are really scared of fire. Fire is really a thing for them because of Beavis and Butthead. We filmed like one thing with fire even though it was with a safety suit they are just paranoid of it. During the Jackass series MTV got really worried about parents suing them and blaming us for stuff so they started to censor so much stuff so we just pulled the plug on the show and rather than water it down we just ended it and made the movie. Then we made two more.

Can you tell us a bit about what will happen at your Australian shows?

Chris Pontius
Well every show is different.

Preston Lacy
It depends on the crowd to what direction it goes. There’s a few forks in the road so we don’t know where it’ll go until we get there.

Chris Pontius
It’s just like Jackass we don’t really overly plan it. We know we wanna have fun and we wanna make it the best party that we’ve ever been to. We do some audience participation in every show definitely. Wee-Man liberates the women for the women that need to be liberated. It’s kind of different every time.

Is there anything you wanna do in Australia besides the shows?

Chris Pontius
Yeah I wanna do whatever fun things there is to do wherever we are. We brought a video camera so we are going to film whatever we get into.

Preston Lacy
I want to get gonorrhoea.

SCENEzine
Do you think the beaches in Australia will be a little safer knowing that bunny the lifeguard is down here?

Chris Pontius
Yeah as great as the Australian life savers are their reputation is completely well deserved but sometimes only bunny the lifeguard is the man for the job really.

SCENEzine
Chris are you worried about getting arrested again while in Australia?

Chris Pontius
No I’m hoping my Australian jailhouse days are behind me. I’m not on probation anymore so I feel good about that because I’m still allowed in the country. I thought the Australian police were more than fair, they did what they had to do. They were cool, really cool cops. It ended up being a really positive experience (laughs).

Can you give Preston some advice on how to not get arrested?

Chris Pontius
Follow all the laws and watch out for alcohol. Don’t mix it with red bull that’s really where I went wrong.

SCENEzine
Lastly can you leave us a message for your Aussie fans?

Preston Lacy
It’s great to be down here come to our show we are going to have a big party. We’ll all have a great time.
