Byron Bay’s much loved environmental darlings, In Hearts Wake, dropped by to the triple j studios this morning as part of the Like A Version segment.
The past 18 months have been monumental for the band. Releasing two albums in the space of 12 months as part of a top secret double album concept; 2014’s Earthwalker debuted at #5 on the ARIA charts and highly anticipated new album Skydancer debuted at #2 on the ARIA charts in May of this year. The band’s national album tour in support of Skydancer sold out completely and the album was chosen as feature album on triple j.
Today the band performed an acoustic version of Skydancer track, ‘Wildflower’, and their own stripped back take on ‘Vice Grip’ the epic first taste of the highly anticipated new album from fellow Byron Bay band, Parkway Drive.
Adding to the buzz surrounding the band, today they were also the first official act to be announced as part of the Unify 2016 festival line up, taking place in January 2016. This is the second year for the festival, which last year sold out in under 3 hours and featured a strong line up of Australian heavy acts including In Hearts Wake, Northlane and The Amity Affliction. This year is also set to sell out very quickly, boasting a bigger line up and some international acts. The full line will be announced on triple j on Friday September 25.
Vocalist Jake Taylor says, “2015 has been an amazing year for us and it just keeps getting wilder. We’re incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to take on Triple J’s Like A Version. We chose to cover Vice Grip by Parkway Drive because we’re both from the same town and some of us even went to the same highschool. They’ve played a huge part in the rise of Australian heavy music around the world, putting our beloved Byron Bay on the global metal map. Oh, and we’re also very excited to be a part of the UNIFY 2016 lineup. Good times ahead!”
To celebrate this exciting time for In Hearts Wake, UNFD have released Skydancer, Earthwalker andDivination on limited edition cassette tapes. Available for preorder now on 24Hundred.net.
The band will soon head off to Europe for a run of dates with Asking Alexandria, August Burns Redand Memphis May Fire in October.
