On the track a bold bass line fit for Let’s Dance-era Bowie holds down the syncopated riff accompanied by the shimmering beats of drummer Ryan Seaman, providing the perfect backdrop for Dallon’s spirited vocals. The song’s refrain is a slippery send-off, “Now I want you to leave me alone.” Dallon explains the inspiration behind the song, “when you’re in a toxic situation, the phrase ‘Leave Me Alone’  is the last civil thing you say before things get uncivil.“
