It’s Saturday night in Sydney and over at Darlignhurst the city is full of all the glitter and glamour that Mardi Gras has to offer. But over on the cities north side underneath the twinkling Luna Park lights another party is about to kick off. Tonight the big top in Sydney is hosting pop music powerhouse Rita Ora as part of her Phoenix tour and playing her first ever Sydney headline show.
Opening up the show was the gorgeous and talented Sammi Constantine. Displaying an impressive vocal ability she commanded the stage with a mix of danceable pop tunes. Whilst her songs may not be familiar to the audience Sammi is definitely one to keep a look out for as I feel her star is on the rise.
Now the time the eager crowd had awaited had finally come as Rita Ora burst onto the stage through a cloud of glorious colour. Starting out her set with her song “For You” as heard in the move Fifty Shades Freed to the audiences delight as they were in full voice. The eighteen song strong set rolled on through the night with banger after banger of sugary pop goodness. Some absolute highlights came from “Your Song”, “Let You Love Me” and “Lonely Together”. Accompanied by back up singers and band the guitars and drums in particular helped to give her songs a harder edge that must be experienced live.
Rita was a true professional and quite humble throughout the show smiling and thanking the crowd for such a special night. Her set closed with another crowd favourite “Anywhere” which gave us one last display of her vocal prowess. In regards to tonight’s show all I can say is wow, you just can’t help fall in love with Rita and her beautiful aura. Being able to witness her first ever headline tour of Australia was something unforgettable and proved why she’s so hot right now. She plays Brisbane on March 5th and Perth on March 7th so don’t miss Rita Ora live she won’t let you down.
