It’s a Sunday evening in Sydney as the time has finally arrived for me to see Bryan Adams live as I make my way to ICC Theatre. The Canadian singer songwriter is currently touring across Australia in celebration of his recently released album Shine A Light. I’ve grown up listening to Bryan’s catchy rock tunes so I’m really looking forward to seeing what tonight brings.
As the lights went dim Bryan and band took to the stage to thunderous applause and cheers from the thousands in attendance.

He kicked off the set with new song “Ultimate Love” and then going straight into an old favourite “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”.  The set list continued as Brian gave the crowd over two hours of chart topping hits, love songs, emotional ballads, upbeat rock songs and even a few covers. The biggest reactions from the crowd came from the songs “Heaven”, “Summer Of 69” and “Run To You”.

A huge personal set highlight for me was getting to experience “Everything I Do” live. The song had me utterly mesmerised as I was transported back to the early nineties when hearing the song for the first time during Kevin Costner’s film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

Another moment I won’t soon forget was towards the end of the set when rock legend Jimmy Barnes joined Bryan Adams on stage as they paid tribute to Bon Scott by covering the AC/DC classic “High Voltage”.

The set ended with the appropriate “All For Love”. Tonight was truly a night to remember with songs delivered straight from the heart. Bryan shined the entire night through his iconic voice that sounds even better when experienced live and also his ability to connect with the audience. Whilst it was only a one night love affair between Bryan and Sydney he sure did set our Australian hearts on fire.
