When it comes to action style American heist movies there are literally hundreds of them so it’s not always easy to discover a movie that shines above others. I can safely say that Den of Thieves rises above many of the rest of this style of movie. From the script to the casting and gripping action sequences this movie did not disappoint.

The film takes place in Los Angles and is centred around an elaborate plan for a group of career criminals to pull off a seemingly impossible bank heist. Gerard Butler gives a brilliant performance as Nick O’Brien a hardened police officer who has nothing to lose. While O’Shea Jackson is stepping out of his fathers shadow and really creating a name for himself as he plays the street smart Donnie Wilson. Another familiar face is Curis “50 Cent” Jackson who adds an element of muscle to the film.

Den of Thieves whilst not quite as good is reminiscent of the classic film Heat. So if you are after a good new action film with just the right amount of unpredictability then this is for you. The Blu-ray also features directors commentary and outakes from the film.
