Black Rheno have delivered their brand new belter “Collision” today. The second taste of their upcoming album, Noise Smasher, set for release on October 25, “Collision” is another top-shelf, smack in the face from Sydney’s premier heavy groove exponents. Preorders are available here.

“Collision” is a hefty beast of a song, draped in a thick layer of sludge and more grooves than Mars. It also serves as a soundtrack for all those lonely nights when you’re curled up in bed with nothing but your phone, as frontman Ryan Miller explains.

“This is a tongue-in-cheek track poking fun at myself but really spawned from some underlying truths. It was written at a time when I was buried deep in some heavy commitments, not going out and not having any physical connection with anyone for a while. It’s about all the sexual fantasies and urges that run through my mind oh so frequently while leading into the grim realisation none of it’s actually happening, and I’m just whipping out the phone out for a quick scroll before I go to sleep…”

Black Rheno have built a reputation from their intense live shows and all or nothing attitude, which is something they carried over into the studio and poured into their debut. Noise Smasher was captured at Housefox Studios in Sydney with their vocalist Ryan Miller putting in overtime as the producer. The band also worked closely via intergalactic trans-communications (email) with Kurt Ballou (Converge) from GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts.
