AMC’s highly anticipated Breaking Bad spinoff series will debut with a two-night premiere on Sunday February 8 & Monday Feb 9 at 10/9c. Speaking at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour to unveil some of what we can expect from the series were co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.

“In the interest of full disclosure, Walt and Jesse will not appear in Season 1,” Peter Gould told distraught TV critics re Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul’s Breaking Bad characters popping up on Better Call Saul,
“We’re not saying it’s never gonna happen. We’re not saying it will happen,” jumped in EP Vince Gilligan.

During the Q and A Gilligan pointed out that the show is set six years before the events of Breaking Bad and at this point Jesse would still be in High School so writing him in would be difficult. Gilligan promised the new show would feel different. “Walter White had a very existential and immediate problem. He was dying of cancer, so that whole show felt, by necessity, had to be very accelerated story-telling . We don’t have that with Jimmy McGill.”

In July, Gilligan and Gould revealed that Goodman’s character won’t be called Saul Goodman: He will be known as Jimmy McGill as the series tracks his transformation from a small-time lawyer hustling to make ends meet into Saul Goodman.

Even with out Walter and Jesse we look forward to Better Call Saul and seeing a part of the Breaking Bad world on our screens again.
