Batman V Superman sees Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman face off in an epic battle bringing the comic books to life in this action thrill ride. The movie picks up where Man of Steel left off and introduces the characters of Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor.
Whilst the initial theatrical version of the film did leave fans wanting more at times the Blu-ray version has an extended cut which really does help to make for a better movie. Adding in scenes throughout gives the audience more key elements to the story. Viewing the movie in 3D is also a must for any 3D fan. The action sequences really come to life in 3D and make for a more immersive experience.
For me Henry Cavill made this movie truly memorable. He was brilliantly cast as Superman. Ben Affleck does an adequate job as Batman but it’s hard to see him in the role when Christian Bale did such a tremendous job previously. Gal Gadot plays a fiery seductive Wonder Woman and with her own stand alone coming out we are really looking forward to seeing more from her. Amy Adams was also another welcome addition to the film reprising her role as Lois. The character development can be a bit lacking throughout but the grand scale action scenes make the movie a great piece of blockbuster escapism.
As far as the comic book film genre goes this wasn’t the best film we’ve ever seen but far from the worst. The movie to me looks like a great stepping stone towards the highly anticipated Justice League movie. In a world where Marvel keeps building the character universe on screen it’s good to see DC building upon their foundations also. If you watched the B V S movie at the cinemas and weren’t blown away I encourage you to check out the extended cut and 3D version. The extended cut changes the movie and stays true to the original vision for the film.
