Sydney-based pop-punk quintet Afterthought have today returned with their vibrant new single ‘Homebound’.
‘Homebound’ begins with a crescendo before launching into a colourful burst of bouncing drums and vibrant instrumentation. Graceful vocals accentuate the verses as the song progresses into the infectious chorus, brimming with soaring melodies and virulent energy. Delving into respective elements of pop and rock, the single showcases the band’s refined chemistry and ambition.
Alongside the release is the light-hearted music video, shot at Sydney Props Photo Studios, the video clip depicts the band members performing the song whilst being judged by a game show panel called ‘Rate It Or Hate It’. Paying homage to ’90s boy band clips and modern reaction videos, and featuring a cameo of friends and family members, the clip is a nod to the band’s good-humoured temperament.
“We came up with the idea of having a few people we know act like they’re watching this music video we had filmed and either rating it or hating it,” explains the band. “We filmed in the day before lockdown started, and we had so many cool people lined up to make little cameos. Unfortunately, as the new lockdown was shaping up rough, we ended up having the crew, Tadhg’s fiancé, a work mate and Marty’s dad.”
