Prepare your heartstrings; irresistible Melbourne foursome SLOWLY SLOWY return today, energised by an east coast tour with Ceres. Slow-burning new single ALIENS is lifted from their forthcoming sophomore LP.
Slowly Slowly‘s frontman Ben Stewart is an arresting and fascinating figure. This exemplary songwriter has a knack for making the banal very beautiful via moving, vintage style indie-rock songs. On Aliens, this is complemented by the sparkle and shimmer of the DIY production, building just to the precipice of bust. Ben Steward elaborates, “the song is a stream of consciousness, equal parts self-loathing and self-pity. I wrote it in my car on my phone in about 4 minutes. I guess that’s why it kind of sucks.”
It’s this brand of self-effacing fallibility that makes Slowly Slowly such a likeable, organic rock act that inspires fanatical adoration.
Pre-order a 7″ featuring two versions of ‘Aliens’ plus ‘Dinosaurs’ (Live from Preston) now via the Slowly Slowly Bandcamp page
