Chase Atlantic have been making waves all across USA and Canada so far this year and the boys are about to return home for some Australian shows. They will be playing the first ever Download Festival in Melbourne Australia, following it up soon after supporting Sleeping With Sirens. We caught up with Chase Atlantic vocalist Mitchel Cave as he gives his opinion on shoeys and shares his excitement to play the last ever USA Warped Tour.

Firstly how’s 2018 been going for you so far?

Mitchel Cave
2018 has been an extremely busy year so far. We’ve managed to already slip a 50-date tour under our belts and have created a handful of new music with less than a week’s studio time in total.

SCENEzine
Your song “Swim” is super catchy. How did that one come about in the writing process?

Mitchel Cave
We write songs based on how they make us feel. We create music for the purpose of satisfaction for the listener. The song is catchy because we know exactly what it takes to audibly entertain. The writing process was very simple; we took what we were feeling that day and expressed it in the most addictive way possible.

Very soon you will be hitting the stage at the first ever Download festival in Australia. You must be pretty excited?

Mitchel Cave
We’re real chill about it all. We understand that it’s a much heavier musically influenced festival but we’re just there for a good time. Never hurts to play a little show every now and then.

SCENEzine
Are there any other bands at Download you want to check out?

Mitchel Cave
We’ll watch the homies in GC! (Good Charlotte)

SCENEzine
We recently interviewed Nick from Sleeping With Sirens and he’d never heard of a shoey. Have the Chase Atlantic boys done a shoey on stage before?

Mitchel Cave
Fuck a shoey, that shit is disgusting. I’ve never done one off stage and absolutely have zero intentions of doing it on stage.

SCENEzine
You must be stoked also that you get to play the last ever Warped Tour?

Mitchel Cave
It’s real cool that they invited us out to play on the final run. We honestly never really pictured ourselves playing Warped, but we just couldn’t say no. (Being the last Warped tour and all.)

SCENEzine
Have the boys from Good Charlotte given you much music industry advice?

Chase Atlantic
They bless us with advice each and every day. Something very important that we practice religiously is the process of always trusting our gut instinct. Shit is cutthroat out here, and there are way too many lames trying to waste our time.

SCENEzine
What was the experience like filming the video for “Triggered”?

Mitchel Cave
It was an experience that we’ll never forget. To be given the chance to fly down Sunset Blvd in an i8 is every young Australian’s wet dream. Not to mention the team we had around us were extremely talented.

SCENEzine
Lastly, can you give us a message for your Aussie fans?

Mitchel Cave
Crack a coldie, slap on some sunscreen and get yaself some pingas for the weekend. We’re headin’ back down under.
