The name Sam Fender might sound fresh to Australian ears right now, but it’s a name you’re going to be hearing a lot more in the not-too-distant future. The 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Newcastle, England, is quickly becoming one of the hottest new acts to emerge from Britain in recent years, and for good reason.

He’s been compared to the likes of Hozier and Ben Howard, had Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ (for the single ‘Leave Fast’) and went on to be Annie’s ‘Tune of the Week’. He also featured in the BBC Music Sound of 2018, alongside the likes of current big-names Sigrid, Rex Orange County and Khalid.

Now he’s turning his focus to the world stage with his brand-new single, ‘Dead Boys.’ A slow-burning number, ‘Dead Boys’ builds from delicate, finger-picked guitars and a breezy falsetto, and billows into a thunderstorm, as Fender’s backing band add percussion, thick bass riffs and haunting guitar lines – all following the lead of his tremendous voice and bursting into a huge crescendo at the song’s peak.
