Celebrating all things weird and wonderful, NEWTOWN FESTIVAL returns in 2018 for its huge 40th year, inviting the community to join in for a full day of music, art, food, four-legged friends and fun. As the primary fundraiser for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (NNC), the Festival will bring Camperdown Memorial Park to life on Sunday 11 November from 9:30am – 5:30pm.
Produced by NNC, the Festival generates funds and awareness to enable the Centre to provide frontline services for those doing it most tough in the Inner West, thanks to generous community donations. It’s a day to honour Newtown’s vibrant, unique and accepting community whilst supporting individuals who need a bit of help.
NNC is striving for Newtown Festival to be the biggest and best festival for social change in Australia. The Centre’s CEO Liz Yeo said; “It’s incredible to think that Newtown Festival is turning 40 this year! The Festival started just one year after Newtown Neighbourhood Centre to raise funds for the work of the Centre. While the Festival has grown and changed significantly over those 40 years, it has remained true to its core purpose – to be a Festival that inspires and supports social change. I am really excited about celebrating the special sense of community and creativity that this year’s Festival will bring in 2018”.
There are a number of ways you can get involved and feel great whilst doing so. By holding a food or market stall, becoming a Festival partner, performing on the day, displaying your art, volunteering your time or just giving generously when you donate at the gate, you can make a big difference! Every bit counts.
Introduced in 2017, the expected contribution for entry to Newtown Festival is $5.00 per person, collected at the entry gates. Alternatively, for $10.00 you can gain entry to the Festival, along with a Newtown Festival reusable water bottle. All contributions received through Newtown Festival go directly to the Neighbourhood Centre and the people, programs and services it provides, so please give generously!
