Lorenzo La Cava or also known as his stage name LLC has been crafting his own brand of acoustic based power pop for many years. Ever the perfectionist Lorenzo pours his heart and soul into his song writing and lets his positivity shine. We had a chat with Lorenzo about his new song “Up High Down Low” and his upcoming appearance at Justinfest 3 which is happening this weekend featuring headliner Scott Russo of Unwritten Law.

Firstly can you tell us a bit about the meaning behind your new song “Up High/Down Low”?

LLC
This song is about the up’s and down’s of life. Those curve balls that life throws at you when one least it expects it. Picking yourself back up (especially when no one else will) moving forward and letting go of the past.

Musically how did the song come together?

LLC
Like the basis of most of my songs, with an acoustic guitar and build from there. Because if it doesn’t work with one voice and one guitar then it’s not worth pursuing.

Who are some of your current musical influences?

LLC
At the moment, I’m loving this indie pop rock band, Bad Suns. Great producing and composition. An artist called LAEL, whose been around for as long as I can remember (in previous bands I’ve enjoyed). And probably my all time idol, Butch Walker whose touring Australia for the first time next year.

You’ll be playing Justinfest 3 this weekend. Can you tell us what the festival is all about?

LLC
Sure thing. It’s about encouraging and supporting anyone’s local music scene. Run by the oh-so-amazing Andrew Evans. In memory of Justin Nichols who sadly passed away a couple years ago. Which is why money earned from the event is going towards the Heart Foundation. It’s a great cause and everyone should get behind it. Plus, there’s awesome bands and artists playing.

SCENEzine
What kind of setlist do you have planned?

LLC
I’m going to play some old from my previous EP ‘View Of Solitude and some new songs. Especially since my single “Up High / Down Low” just came out.

SCENEzine
Are there any other bands you are looking forward to watching at Justinfest 3?

LLC
I really enjoy Liberties at the moment. Dear Seattle I haven’t seen, yet. Atlantis The Sky are wrapping up their long run of being a band. And of course, Scott Russo from Unwritten Law playing a special acoustic show!

SCENEzine
Lastly can you tell us what’s on the horizon for LLC?

LLC
I’m planning to release one more cover (it’s a secret!) next month for Xmas. Along with two new videos and my sequel ‘View From Solitude’ EP in March. Then in the new year, I’m making an oath (to myself) of putting out a song every month. Whether it be part of my acoustic outlet or my full band material (which is where I’m eventually heading). But more on that, later.
