English rock duo Royal Blood have returned to Australia as part of Groovin The Moo Festival but before they hit those stages the duo are doing a run of headline shows, tonight in Sydneys Hordern Pavilion we will see the band play the biggest venue to date in yet another sold out show playing tracks from their acclaimed second album How Did We Get So Dark?

I have been to the Hordern Pavilion many times when the sign out the front has said sold out but tonight as i make way inside it is truly packed out shoulder to shoulder we tightly huddle in filling up every available space we can with our bodies drinks in hand.

The time has come to have these brits play for us some absolute face melting jams they start things off with a bit of a slow burn with Where Are You Now ? but wasted no more time turning things up straight after with Turn The Lights Down. Royal Blood fill up what space is left in the Hordern with sound of wailing meaty guitar riffs accompanied by heavy pounding of drums you know the kind you can feel hit your chest even if your standing way up the back all that noise and grunt from two guys one guitar on drum kit and amp. A new use of stage lighting I thought looked cool a sometimes subtle but highlight in the change of songs and on some songs they were accompanied by two sexy black clad back up singers not that they needed them because if vocalist Mike Kerr ever wanted to take a break from singing all he had to do was stop and the crowd would carry on the with the lyrics word for word.

Ain’t nobody in the Hordern tonight not having a real good time every song had the bodies rocking back forth I saw it when I was up the front I saw when I was up the back. Drummer Ben Thatcher really know’s how to hit those skins executed one hell of a drum solo during middle Little Monster not to be out shined Mike Kerr would let out a bit extra fancy guitar work on the very next track Hook Line & Sinker every track end with a rousing applause. You now the things are headed towards the end when they play Figure It Out and they conclude in a blaze of flashing lights and even flashier guitar work. The duo waste no time heading back out saving the best for last the leave us on a high not playing Ten Tonne Skeleton and Out Of The Black.

What a wild ride tonight was this duo really have one hell of a blistering stage  presence and have shown that less is more a guitarist a drummer and a whole lot of noise do not miss your chance to see this powerful live music show.
