In a city that is renowned for its awesome NYE parties, it is hard to know just where to go. This year SCENEzine has chosen to dance the night away in a boutique New Year’s Eve festival taking place at Victoria Park, Broadway. We are set to dance our cares away and ring in the reaming hours of 2017 to the music of artist’s such as 2manyDjs, Krafty Kuts with Jurrasic 5 rapper Chali2NA, those time-travelling DJ Hot Dub Time Machine, leading Australian songstress Vera Blue, Melbourne band Northeast Party House, buzzed-about newcomers Haiku Hands, plus Nicole Millar, this will be a night to remember.

The sun is shining the weather is sweet, it just makes you wanna groove and dance to the beat. The beautiful people of Sydney had come out in numbers, all covered in glitter ready to enjoy the chilled vibes and laid back grooves. The park’s amphitheatre made for a natural delivery of great sound and by having the two stages just far enough apart made it so you can easily catch the best of all the acts. Now adding to this enjoyment was a selection of local gourmet food trucks whose culinary delights you could wash down with champagne or a cocktail from any of the bars, with lines that moved pretty quick.

We arrive fashionably early to catch one of our favourite up and comers, Nicolle Miller, the Indie Electro Pop Princess wowed us with her hits. Vera Blue was absolutely captivating, the jams from Krafty Cuts with Chali 2na were off the hook to get down to. But I really must hand it to the sensational Hot Dub Time Machine. This is the act that gets me moving every time what a set I thought they were even better than international headliner Tiga.

As the last seconds of the year drew to a close it was time for me to let it all go, have the music take over, hold someone I love close and look up at the night sky and as I watch it light up in a dazzling display of colour, I couldn’t help but think to myself that this was the Best New Year’s Ever!
