Grinspoon have been tearing up the road and covering way more then 100o miles as they tour the country playing in full the album that kickstarted their music career, Guide To Better Living,20 years ago this album was delivered to our years and being the almighty champion Aus rock act they are, Grinspoon have been out on tour since late June playing the album from start to finish in venues all over the place tonight SCENEzine has finally had a chance to catch them at The Entrance Leagues Club on the NSW Central Coast.

The place is packed no surprise there, majority of the tour has been sold out well in advance, i carve myself out a path and try and get as close as i can to the action. This is an album show so you know what to expect in terms of setlist it just a matter of how they present it. The room is a buzz with chatter that turns to an almighty cheer when the guys walk out on stage Phil gives us a cheers and then it is straight into it with Pressure Tested. One great thing about this album is how it is just chock full of hits and tracks that get you going as is evident early on with Boundary and the classic DCX3.

I could give you a track by track run down of the setlist, but hey you should know the material by now and if you don’t go get yourself acquainted with it you wont be let down, if you are interested in knowing what tracks went off then let me tell you. It was  ALL OF THEM ! yes every single song sounded great live an who would have thought in the function room of a leagues club no less, great AUS Rock music was alive and well. I guess certain honourable mention should go to tracks like Just Ace and Pedestrian oh and you almost had to pull me out of the ceiling when they played Champion i jumped so high.

Let me tell you no one in that room tonight be it on stage or in the crowd is a spring chicken anymore but no one acted that way Phil, Pat , Joe and Kristian all rocked the shit out of the gig tonight and we the audience rocked along with them, mosh pit and crowd surfing were well represented, speaker jumping and stage diving all present an accounted for , shit it was like we found the fountain of youth in the form of live music. For a band that has been touring non stop traveling far and wide for months now there was no sign that these guys weren’t having a good time Pat would later take the time to say how much they appreciate every minute of playing this album in full for us the fans. The album set closes with Truk.

We aren’t kept waiting long for an encore Phil remerges in a new suit and his acoustic and plays for us Protest then the whole band join him and they slow the tempo down a bit as we are lead into the biggest crowd sing long moment of the night with Chemical Heart. From then on out you get 5 more classic Grinspoon tracks to rock out too before the shows end with More Then You Are. It was sensational not just the last song but the whole show from start to finish they don’t have many more shows left so if you have missed out that sux but if you have the opportunity then get out there and go see this show.
