DOWNLOAD – the music festival made famous in the U.K. has now expanded across the globe and is making its Australian debut on Saturday, 24th March 2018 at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse with room enough for 25,000 moshers to rock out at four stages. Download has plans to expand the festival into a national tour.
Here’s how they feel about DOWNLOAD in the U.K.
“Download will start in Melbourne, Australia’s Rock City, with the intention of expanding each year to eventually becoming a nationally touring event,” according to a statement from Download’s Australian organiser. “The line-up will reflect the one-day event – and as the event grows it will become more in line with the U.K. festival.”
“We have 28 bands in total; 1/3 of those are Australian,” confirms event producer Nigel Melder, who’s really excited about putting the spotlight on the local heavy bands that don’t get many opportunities to play festivals on home turf. “Oz heavy acts are drawing a lot of people both here and overseas, so we are happy to be able to showcase that strength.”
