The question that has been keeping us up at night all these years, “what if Sonic Youth and The Birthday Party got together and had kids?” It has finally been answered … and it’s Gateway Drugs.

Hailing from the dark streets of sunny Los Angeles, Cooking Vinyl Australia are ecstatic to welcome Gateway Drugs to the roster and release their debut Australian Release Magick Spells on May 29.

Gabe, Noa, and Liv Niles are the real live children of The Knack’s Preston Niles. Blues Williams is a sworn in blood brother and rounds out the band. They found an ally and collaborator in former Blind Melon member Christopher Thorn. Not only did he secure Gateway Drugs studio time in Dave Grohl’s Studio 606, but he also serves as executive producer on the band’s full-length debut.

Their shows have been described as “A mind-blowing, heart-altering mix of sex, chaos, bad thoughts, young dreams, and perfect pop.” Buzzbands.la hail them as one of the bands to watch in 2015. They’ve already had a busy start to the year touring with Swervedriver on 22 date tour, performed at SXSW 2015 and are set to support Ride. They took some time out from their busy schedule to perform tracks Anu, Faith Healer Take 1 and Mommy for Jam in the Van. You can check out the performances HERE.
